Unit 4

Welcome back to the PE Jungle!!!  I hope you had a wonderful and restful winter break.  We will begin the new year reviewing skills we have learned this year.  The focus for the next few weeks will be on cooperative skills.

Key Learning:  Respect and cooperation are important while playing activities with others.

Unit Focus Question:  How do cooperation and respect affect participation in physical activities?

The vocabulary and focus questions for each grade level are as follows:

Kindergarten:
Vocabulary:  physical activity, relation, share, partner, invite
Focus Questions:  How can we move safely in relation to others?  What are the most effective ways to help others during physical activities?  Why is it important to share when playing with a partner?   Why do we invite others to play with us?

First Grade: 
Vocabulary:  chase, flee, dodge, body control, challenges
Focus Questions:  How does changing your speed and direction impact your ability to chase, flee, and dodge?  How do we use body control to safely chase, flee and dodge?  What are the most effective ways to chase, flee and dodge?  How do new challenges affect your feelings?  What can you learn from playing with others that are different than you?

Second Grade:  
Vocabulary:  conflict, avoid, agility, resolve, challenge, failure
Focus Questions:  How does cooperation help you to overcome challenges and failures in physical activities?  How does agility increase your ability to chase, flee or dodge?  How does cooperation help resolve conflict?  How do obstacles effect chasing, fleeing and dodging while catching or avoiding others?
