Wild Games in the Jungle  (lifetime sports)

This is our final unit of the year!! We will  be participating in games and activities that can be enjoyed by families over the summer break.  My goal is to teach children some easy and fun games that will encourage physical activity.  In this unit, we will also be learning how music and the beats in different songs encourages exercise and movements. Lastly, we can't forget to include strength and balance.  The two work together when traveling during physcial activity.

Key Learning:  There are a variety of opportunities for everyone to exercise.

Unit Essential Question:  What types of activities are available to maintain a healthy lifestyle?

Kindergarten:
Essential Questions:
How many body parts can you balance on?  How many ways can you balance an object while moving?  How can i identify different ways people exercise together and alone?  How can I make exercise more enjoyable?  What is the difference between rhythmic beats and movement? 

Vocabulary:  balance, enjoyable, rhythm, alone

First Grade:
Essential Questions:
What influence does balance have on movement?  How can you describe different levels of travel?  Why is creativity important when developing a movement sequence?  What influence does music have on movement?  How do you transfer weight from one body part to another? 

Vocabulary:  sequence, transfer, influence

Second Grade: 
Essential Questions:
What are the most effective ways to transfer weight from one base to another?  How can you use strength to achieve balance?

Vocabulary:  base, offense, defense
